Install Guide

Put PictoKey on your home screen in under a minute.

PictoKey works as a progressive web app, so you can install it on your PC, iPhone, iPad, or Android device without using an app store.

Before you start

  • Make sure you are opening the secure PictoKey site.
  • Use a supported browser: Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Samsung Internet.
  • If the install option does not appear, refresh the page and try again.

Supported devices

Choose your device

Each guide follows the exact browser actions most users will see.

PC

Install on Windows laptop or desktop

Best in Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Once installed, PictoKey opens like a desktop app.

  1. Open PictoKey in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Look for the install icon in the address bar.
  3. If you do not see it, open the browser menu.
  4. Select Install PictoKey, Install app, or Apps > Install this site as an app.
  5. Confirm by clicking Install.
  6. Pin it to the taskbar or Start menu if you want faster access.
Tip: After install, PictoKey can appear in your Start menu like any other app.
iPhone and iPad

Install on iOS or iPadOS

On Apple devices, installation must be done from Safari. Other browsers on iPhone and iPad usually will not show the correct install flow.

  1. Open PictoKey in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom or top of the screen.
  3. Scroll down in the share sheet.
  4. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  5. Review the app name, then tap Add.
  6. Launch PictoKey from your home screen like a normal app.
Tip: If Add to Home Screen is missing, make sure you are using Safari and not an in-app browser.
Android

Install on Android phone or tablet

Chrome works best, but Edge and Samsung Internet often support the same install action.

  1. Open PictoKey in Chrome or another supported Android browser.
  2. Wait a moment for the page to finish loading.
  3. Tap the browser menu in the top-right corner.
  4. Select Install app or Add to Home screen.
  5. Confirm by tapping Install or Add.
  6. Open PictoKey from your home screen or app drawer.
Tip: Some Android devices show an install banner automatically near the bottom of the screen.

Troubleshooting

I do not see an install option

Refresh the page, make sure you are on the secure PictoKey site, and try a supported browser.

It opens in a social app browser

Use the browser menu to open the page in Safari, Chrome, or Edge first, then install from there.

I already installed it

You can keep using the installed app icon. There is no need to reinstall unless you removed it.
